WILSON: Zeldin is Breaking the Law to Finance New Ads

Today, the campaign of outsider gubernatorial candidate Harry Wilson once again called out career politician and insider Lee Zeldin for his campaign’s flagrant violations of New York campaign finance law.

On Friday, the Zeldin for Governor campaign reserved another $75,000 in cable advertising using general election funds. It is illegal for campaigns to use funds marked for the general election during the primary campaign. Campaign finance reports from late May showed that Zeldin had exhausted his primary election dollars, forcing his campaign to break the law to fund his rapidly unraveling campaign.

“Lee Zeldin – much like his political mentor Andrew Cuomo – believes that the rules do not apply to him. He ran his campaign into the ground, just like he did to New York State by voting for every single Cuomo budget, and now he’s breaking the law to stay afloat.”
