Republican businessman Harry Wilson lanched his bid for governor on Tuesday, entering what has become a crowded GOP field for the nomination.

His announcement on Tuesday morning comes a week before Republicans meet in Garden City to formally designate their preferred slate of candidates at their convention.

“I’m running for Governor to turn around New York,” Wilson wrote on Twitter. “Our state is totally broken. Rising crime, sky-high taxes, closed schools, corrupt politicians. I’ve spent my career turning around failing organizations. Let’s get this done.”

His announcement comes as Rep. Lee Zeldin has largely locked up endorsements from a majority of the Republican county chairs in New York state. Former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and former Trump administration official Andrew Giuliani are also seeking the party’s nomination.

Wilson last ran for office in 2010, losing to Democratic Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who was seeking a full term that year.
