Outsider Harry Wilson Files Suit to Stop Zeldin Campaign’s Illegal Spending

Outsider Harry Wilson filed suit in State Supreme Court to block Congressman Lee Zeldin’s gubernatorial campaign from spending campaign funds generated through a number of unlawful finance schemes and funneled into his gubernatorial campaign, which has fully exhausted its primary election cash.

The petition, filed in Albany County late Wednesday, alleges that the Zeldin campaign has used contributions from wealthy donors to evade clearly established contribution limits and illegally funnel excess money to his primary campaign. This scheme became apparent in the Zeldin campaign’s May 27th campaign finance filings, which revealed the details behind these efforts and, after careful and thorough review and analysis, revealed that he has now exhausted the funds available to his gubernatorial campaign during the primary election period.

Unlike Zeldin, Wilson is following the law by refraining from spending his significant general election funds in connection with the Primary Election.

“Lee Zeldin’s flailing campaign is so mismanaged it is out of primary cash and now breaking the law in a desperate bid to stay afloat. Just like his old buddy Andrew Cuomo, he believes in a different set of rules for insiders like him. This is yet another example of why he will never and should never be elected governor.” – Harry Wilson
